Computer Maintenance Procedures
Are you having problems with your computer? Is your computer running slowly?
There are several maintenance functions that you can perform on your computer to keep it in the best operational condition. Below is the first in a series that ATISS will publish for your use.
The process below will repair your hard drive problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors.
- Boot your computer and logon using an administrative account.
- Go to the Command Prompt by clicking on Start, then Run then type cmd and hit the Enter key.
- Type chkdsk /r and hit the Enter key.
- Answer yes to the question by typing Y and then hit the return key.
- Restart the computer. Do not touch the computer, keyboard or mouse until it completes the process and returns to the main screen. (This process may take over an hour to complete.)
